New York, NY – March 27, 2025 – Patrick | Doerr proudly announces that Carr Davis has joined the firm as Of Counsel and Chair of its IP Monetization & Diligence Group. In this role, Carr will lead the firm’s cutting-edge practice focused on intellectual property assessment, monetization, due diligence, and strategic advisory services in transactions and commercial agreements.
A respected business leader and lawyer, Carr brings a wealth of experience in IP monetization strategies and diligence reviews for prominent companies across industries. His expertise strengthens the firm’s ability to guide and represent clients through the complexities of intellectual property and compliance while unlocking new business opportunities.
Beyond his legal work, Carr serves as a Senior Advisor at financial advisory firm Oaklins DeSilva+Phillips, focusing on Software-as-a Service (SaaS) and the Information Industry. Carr is also a Partner at ISMS Applications, a provider of technology-assisted compliance solutions. Carr recently facilitated the sale of ISMS Applications’ AI/NLP technology to ProcessUnity, a premier risk management firm.
His career has also encompassed high-profile content licensing deals. Carr has secured agreements with industry giants such as AP, Bloomberg, Congressional Quarterly (CQ/RollCall), Dow Jones, and Thomson Reuters. Carr has overseen numerous transactions in the SaaS space, with a focus on Third-Party Risk.
Before joining Patrick | Doerr, Carr was a partner at ASC Partners, LLC, which was acquired by VIQ Solutions in 2020. In 1993, he co-founded FDCH eMedia, revolutionizing real-time direct distribution of text to content for B2B partners and pioneering new syndication markets for television text. Under his leadership, FDCH served major media organizations like CNN, NBC, Fox News, and CBS, before its acquisition by Congressional Quarterly in 2004.
Carr is an experienced negotiator and dealmaker. Carr has collaborated with leading private equity firms and advertising powerhouses, including Marlin Equity Partners and WPP. His deep industry knowledge and business acumen will provide invaluable insights to clients looking to maximize the value of their intellectual property and navigate the evolving challenges of compliance and risk management.
