About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Legal Assistant to join our growing law firm. As a key member of our team, you will provide essential administrative and legal support to our attorneys, ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Document Preparation and Management: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, motions, and correspondence.

  • Case Management: Maintain client files and legal documents in both physical and electronic formats; ensure they are up-to-date and compliant with legal procedures.

  • Research: Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, regulations, and other relevant materials to assist attorneys in case preparation.

  • Client Interaction: Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates, scheduling meetings, and ensuring excellent customer service.

  • Scheduling: Organize and maintain the attorney’s calendar, scheduling appointments, meetings, court dates, and depositions.

  • Filing and Billing: Prepare and submit legal billing, tracking billable hours and assisting with invoicing.

  • General Administrative Support: Manage incoming calls, emails, and correspondence, and handle office supplies and inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in a legal or business-related field. Paralegal certification a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative role. Experience in a law firm setting is highly preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

    • Familiarity with legal research tools (LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.).

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with an attention to detail.

    • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures is preferred.
